      Who needs an oxygen concentrator?

An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that provides supplemental oxygen therapy to people with respiratory problems who struggle to get enough oxygen from the air. Here are some of the health conditions that might necessitate using an oxygen concentrator:

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): This is a group of lung diseases that includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. COPD damages the lungs, making it hard to breathe and get enough oxygen.

Asthma: This is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways that causes wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. During asthma attacks, airways narrow further, restricting oxygen intake.

Lung Cancer: This cancer can block airways or damage lung tissue, reducing the lungs' ability to absorb oxygen.

Sleep Apnea: This sleep disorder causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start during sleep. This disrupts oxygen flow to the body.

Heart Failure: When the heart weakens, it can't pump blood effectively. This reduces oxygen delivery to the body's tissues.

COVID-19 (severe cases): In severe cases, COVID-19 can cause pneumonia, which fills the lungs with fluid and makes it difficult to breathe and get enough oxygen.

Is Home Oxygen Therapy (HOT) suitable for active smokers?

No, home oxygen therapy is not suitable for active smokers as it can be hazardous. Oxygen accelerates combustion, and smoking increases the risk of burns and fire hazards. We strongly urge our users to exercise caution when handling oxygen equipment.

How does oxygen therapy improve health?

Improved breathing: Oxygen therapy can help alleviate shortness of breath and make it easier to breathe.

Increased energy: Higher oxygen levels can increase energy levels and reduce fatigue.

Improved quality of life: Oxygen therapy can improve the overall quality of life for people with respiratory conditions.

Is this oxygen concentrator suitable for critically ill patients?

No, this oxygen concentrator is not suitable for critically ill patients. This device is only ideal for oxygen supply and not life support.

Are there any adverse effects of excessive oxygen intake?

Breathing in too much oxygen can lead to a condition called oxygen toxicity, also known as oxygen poisoning. This happens when the body is exposed to high levels of concentrated oxygen for extended periods. While oxygen is essential for life, too much of it can disrupt normal bodily functions and cause cell damage. An oxygen concentrator is a medical device and requires a doctor's prescription and proper training for safe use. If you think you might need oxygen therapy, consult your doctor to discuss if an oxygen concentrator is right for you.
